Hi my Names Mark and I hate alt runs, or rather the attitude oh so prevalent within them.
Can you guess the one?
“Its only my alt”
Ahem I would just like to say fuck you scrub, my rogue is my alt yet in worse gear then almost all of or guild mains (and not by a small margin talking average item level 229 vs Average I level 251)
Yet I still beat our resident Epeening gear score junkie DK about 90% of the time now granted not by a lot but when hes running around with a Byrntroll and ive got a Blood Weeper and Sharpened Ice Razor that’s pretty fucking sad.
Heck his fucking hunter is better geared than my rogue and before you all say it yes the gear gap there is mild and thus expect on any prolonged fight ill win that one however when I can get 7-8K tunneling down on something with no more than ten man buffs than WHY I ask can he only get 5k on a good night (no MM hunters are not that far behind so shush they are actually very very close) I will tell you why because I do not expect to be carried simply because its my alt, I want to raid with my alt so I do the appropriate research figure out what gear is good for me, what my priorities are its funny if I was that fucking lazy with Seerath id be questioned about it. I mean seriously my offspec Elemental shaman competes with Unholy DK’s and arcane mages and quite frankly that’s just fucking wrong. Elemental shaman do pretty low damage compared to both of those.

I have a little game i play in my guild its mostly just something fun i do every time i see a guildie flaunt their gear score, I reference my guild bench mark for actually knowing how to fucking play (Happily thats my alt rogue :-p ) We have a DK in my guild who brags about his 6K GS but has yet to even once beat my rogue that has only in the last week has cracked 5.1 K which by the way scale of measure wise thats basically full 25 man ICC gear vs bits of 232 and 251 mixed. Now yes thats a rogue compared to a DK but mind you DK’s are not exactly slouches on DPS if they are played right.
This has had mixed results ranging from raging gquits to people actually learning to fucking play and everything in between including me getting nothing but cold silence on vent from them.
The reason I feel like this is simple, if you go into a raid to have fun but your incompetence is ruining others fun than you’re a blight on that group something that needs to be removed much as you would a tumor! If you cant have fun while actually you know learning how to fucking play then please do me and a lot of other players like a favour and do not fucking raid your wasting raid slots that could potentially be going to those who want to actually try even if they are alts.
I put this out here bluntly were it my choice there would likely only be about 13 people raiding in this guild because honestly most of them do not deserve a fucking raid spot.

I will say this DPS, Healing and Damage taken are not the only factors in useful players but on pretty standard fights they sure as hell help you figure out who the fuck knows what they are doing. Typically speaking the same DPSers that pull poor DPS for their gear are the same ones who can not fucking interrupt or get out of bad stuff and switch targets, the same healers that can’t keep a reasonably geared tank alive through Gormok the Impaler in ToC 10 are the same ones that die in the fire on the ground and get them selves frozen in place with the toxin or better still can’t heal out side of their own group!. The same tanks that can’t hold agro worth a shit are usually the same ones that take disgustingly spikey damage and move the bosses when they have no need to.

Seriously all i ask of people when raiding is regardless of whether this is your alt, gear and spec the thing properly and while your doing that learn how to fucking play it seriously there are countless good sources of information as to how you should be playing. Oh bonus points if you stop asking people “Hey is Epic item A better or Epic item B?” because A) you learn absolutely nothing by doing that and generally piss the person your asking off and B) gear is something that needs to looked at as a whole X item may be better on its own than item Y but then the rest of your gear may not work properly if you use it.

Tanks avoidance is great and all but it doesn’t stop you getting two shot try to remember that next time you bitch about not getting healed after taking two back to back hits for more than half your health. Big tip more HP and more armor are favoured yes an avoidance string where you don’t get hit for like 20 seconds looks fucking awesome but the fact is it only means the tank healer is probably wasting mana on you and B) when you get hit its going to be A LOT harder.

Healers you have more than one fucking heal button even druids despite popular belief have more going than rejuv and wild growth spam particularly on 10 man where they cant rely on that other healers to pick up there slack.

Shaman each and every time i see your healing with more than 80% chain heal on a fight that doesn’t have constant raid wide damage i want to fucking punch you.

Pallies its nice that you can heal the tank by healing someone else but if your assigned to tank healing (who am i kidding you will be) let the raid healers do their job unless the fight explicitly requires you help.

Priests if your holy your not a bubble bot and if there is a disc priest in the raid with you, you are hurting more than your helping as well as this you have flash heal to use between circle of healing in order to stack up Serendipity and i think renew does it too though uhh don’t quote me on that.

Druids who don’t spec in to natures swiftness or swiftmend seriously delete your fucking toon your wasting raid slot and peoples time also do remember you have other buttons aside from Rejuvenation and Wild growth so on occasion you will need to use them. The same goes in reverse for the love of god make sure you are using rejuv and wild growth.

Also i just like to say, no you don’t need to waste everyone’s time in ICC in order to get experience, you want experience go pug some Ulduar or ToC 10 rather wasting 9 -24 other peoples time in the hardest raid available in the game at the moment.

Welcome to Eki’s guide to hopefully not completely defunct raid bosses

Marrowgar: The floating multi-headed thing with a BIG axe

This fight is a two phase fight (Well Kinda), phase one is actually essential Korolon with meteor fists always cranking, including fire though admittedly this fire is blue and he does also impale people with Bone Spikes that need to be DPSd down (This is Even more Important should the person impaled be a healer as tank damage is heavy) as they do damage and stun the person (this can not be bubbled out of or Ice Blocked unlike most painful effects. Phase two its BOOOOOOOOONE SSSSTTTTTOOOOORRRRRM errr sorry Bone Storm at certain intervals he will start spinning up for and Yell Bone Storm at which point its basically a game of everyone run away from the spinning top of horrible painful death.

In any Case the long of it to come, but first.

Important notes.

Tanks need to be stacked on top of each other in order to split the damage of his saber lash (damage split between all targets in front of him)

Bone Spikes need to be targeted and killed immediately failing to do so will kill the raid

Stay out of the fire the best way to do this is anything but a hunter is simply to be inside his hit box with the rogues.

During Bone Storm do not DPS he drops agro, also hell throw more fire around as usual don’t stand in it you’ll die.

Phase 1: Boned, yes you will be!

On This phase you will need the tanks stacked up and the DPS as clustered as possible, the only poor bastards that cant DPS from within his Hit Box are hunters due to the minimum range issue, so umm expect their DPS to be the lowest in reality (failing this consider slapping the other dps) as they will be dodging fire the entire fight.

The tanks can and will get fire under their feet and will need to move however they need to move together so hope they are in tune with one another and go smoothly in the same direction or whoever has agro will bite it hardcore. (Funny note warriors and druids DO NOT CHARGE! As nothing says “I am an idiot” like forcing three or more healers to blow their oh shit cool downs on you within seconds of engaging)

Basically if you choose to Heroism or Bloodlust this fights it’s better sooner than later really before you get bone spikes and fire screwing with everyone, generally id say give everyone 5-10 seconds to get in position and DPSing then drop the cool down.

This biggest annoyance in this phase of the fight is Bone Spike graveyard in which he impales someone on a destroyable spike that damages the poor player on the receiving end and stops them doing anything, the key here basically as simple as this switch targets and kill the damn thing hitting tab is not a difficult task. Continue DPSing the boss between spikes (which don’t have a lot of health actually) then get ready to run when you hear BOOOONEEE STTTTOOOOOORRRRM as it means hes spinning up for phase 2ish.

Phase 2 Kind of: BOOOONNNNE SSSTTOOOORRRM

Basically Stop DPS as soon as he says this as he agro dumps at this point, pretty often the tanks can eat the whirlwind as the bleed it leaves is pretty minor in terms of tank damage though it stings a tad for DPS and healers so basically when you see him heading one direction during this phase you head the exact opposite. Of course to make matters worse he also leaves a trail of blue fire wherever he goes so try to stick together as a group so as to not create impassable walls of fiery suck.

Now back to phase one rinse and repeat till the ugly bugger is dead.

First up the beasts.

Important things to remember

Fire is almost always a bad thing, this is no exception get out of it.

If you are green start heading to someone who looks like they are out of a DBZ episode. (They have sparks flying around their body)

The green stuff is not cleansable or else it would be the easiest damn mechanic in the whole fight.

Much like fire, green gaseous stuff on the ground is also usually bad GTFO of it.

On icehowl actually look where the yeti is going before running… there is no excuse to run INTO the bloody thing.

Enrages come in two varieties neither is really a good thing.

Phase 1: Gormok the Annoying guy with bloody Snobolds

This guy is pretty much 2/5 Tank damage, 1/5 DPS race, 1/5 Raid Damage and the final 1/5 is the DPS actually switching target to kill the damn snobolds he launches on your heads.

This fight is pretty basic tanks have to swap agro with each other when they get to three stacks of impale because, well bleeding for about 20K a tick is pretty unhealthy isn’t it? So that’s pretty basic when ya get three stacks yell at your other tank to taunt.

As well as this he has snobolds on his back throwing fire at people, which in its self is pretty basic when they throw it GTFO out of it, the kicker here is occasionally Gormok will throw the damn snobolds at you which is all well and good except they will interrupt your casts and stuff, making them hell for a healer in particular to deal with this when you get one you should run into melee range so any and all ranged people can easily target you and the melee just have to turn around and whack it a few times. There is also a shockwave thingy he does in about a 10 yard radius all around him every so often which interrupts casting and stuff so try to be out of that if your not a melee player, also I should mention the attack does some damage but that isn’t anything really to worry about.

So to recap

Do not stand in fire

If you get a snobold on you, run IN to melee range to make it easier to kill.

Tanks have to switch

Shockwave/Thunderclap thingy interrupts casting if you get hit by it and does damage do not be a melee mage and youll be fine.

Phase 2: The twin Jormungor of Suck and Fail

This has two jormungor thingys (big worm things) one called acidmaw and one called dreadscale.

Acidmaw puts a debuff on people called paralytic toxin which does a fair bit of damage and quiet quickly freezes people in place stunning them.

Dreadscale puts a debuff on people called Burning Bile this does damage to the target and to anyone near by, it is also used to remove paralytic toxin from people.

This fight requires the two tanks to co-ordinate in a rather strange manner in that if they each get the “bad stuff” on them they actually want to run together so it clears the more evil of the two bad things (Toxin) and then separate again.

The fight starts off with Dreadscale wandering in and Acidmaw popping up from the ground at which point basically you have one tank pick up a boss mob each.

And start the fight if you have Heroism available its generally easier to pop it on Acidmaw as of the two worms it’s the most aggravating by far.

Which ever worm is on the surface at any given time will be dropping gas cloud (Grobulus seems to have a kindred spirit here) this will be at first Dreadscale however at various intervals during the fight they will switch with Acidmaw Wandering and Dreadscale be Stationary in the ground.

Once one worm dies the other will enrage its ok though because its not like it’s a massive enrage its kind of a soft enrage not OMG one shot the tank stuff, just heavy up the tank heals and continue nuking while not standing next to each other or in the poison clouds of suck and fail. Usually a group that’s actually geared for ToC 10 should be able to Destroy Acidmaw within one burrow phase and one above ground because even on 10 man 4K dps should not be an issue to pull.

Recap

Don’t hug each other unless you need to clear the greed shit then hug the sparky person.

Do not Stand in poison clouds that the worms of Suck and Fail leave.

Killing one worm triggers a soft enrage watch that.

Kill acidmaw first as dreadscale is required to deal with its mechnics.

When your done get ready for phase 3.

Phase 3: Icehowl he who Squishes people with no hazard perception.

This fight is mostly tank and spank aside from a few little things.

One if your melee attack him from as far out as his needlessly large hit box will allow you to, doing so will prevent him throwing you back away from him this both helps progression and your Epenis as you get to do more damage see it’s a win win.

Two He will Occasionally turn in a direction and freeze everyone for a shit ton of damage as a note if you have 20K health raid buffed youll live regardless, but ideally healers should not be in the vicinity of one another just in case.

Third he likes to cuddle and by cuddle I mean throw you against a wall and try to skewer you like a bull with its horns, this is EASY to avoid all you have to is look at the boss and where he is facing and run away from there, when he misses and slams into the wall (or so he should) he receives a damage taken debuff which is an awesome time to kill him good. If someone fails at the running away part and gets hit he enrages this enrage is enough that it can splatter a well geared tank quite easily if they don’t have any cooldowns ready, it can be dispelled with a hunters tranquilizing shot or a rogues Anesthetic poisons (Which is why rogues with only one spec should still carry three weapons at least so they can switch it in to save the day without gutting their dps!)

Basically kill him, heal the tanks and DPS (tanks will be seeing a fair bit of damage as he does hit quite hard) and don’t go squish then GG Northrend beasts cleared Huzzah.

Recapping again

Hit from max hitbox distances if your melee

Do not get squished I mean you get a bloody run speed boost on normal mode it aint hard.

If you get squished prey you can dispel the enrage if not tanks will be needing cool downs and a lot of healing. (If the dispeller gets squished feel free to bitch slap us)

Healers try to stay no where near each other so you do not all get frozen.

I will not cover trash aside from saying the boneguards do a nasty spell reflect Elemental shaman and Destro locks particularly you will likely be unlucky with the timing of a cast and kill your self at least once deal with it! Bitching at the healer because you killed your self will ensure you a distinct lack of heals on the coming bosses.

Boss One: God Father of Souls

There are two ways to do this, if you have good DPS park him in the middle and nuke with raw and utter impunity. With this tactic there is one huge advantage idiots will be less likely to die in phase 2! The other tactic involves kiting him around the room so he can’t collected the soul fragments he sucks out of people (these get DPSed down) as they heal him (thus why tactic one requires good DPS)

Anyway on to the Fight.

Phase 1:

He does like a whirl wind-ish thing but assuming you have a healer that wouldn’t struggle to heal Heroic UK you probably shouldn’t be worried. He also sucks the soul out of people with a channeled (incorrectly labeled as interruptible) cast which upon completion sets loose a little floating thing called tainted soul or something like that basically if your burning him in close hell get healed if your kiting him. Kill the damn bubbles. Burn the boss until he gets to about 40% then everyone get in the middle and if there is a shammy drop a damn tremor totem.

Phase 2:

See all that swirly junk surrounding you? Yes? Good! What No? ITS FREAKING SWIRLY AND PURPLE! Well basically it hurts do not touch it if at all possible.

Two things can happen here, one you can end up being feared into them and dieing because it hurts like hell and snares you. Or B youll total the boss with out a single thought Basically stay in the middle and burn him real good.

Boss Two: Devourer of Souls.

This boss is kind of three phases

Phase 1.

Do not stand in purple stuff you know common sense, keep an eye out for mirrored soul which DBM will warn you of and puts a big freaking beam to the target. What this does is copies all damage done to the boss to the target so when you see this STOP DPS DAMN IT. Particularly if you want to receive heals when you get it!

Phase 2.

Basically hell spawn a ton of adds they can’t be killed or anything just try to stay away from them if you can. (but likely hood is your healer will just heal through it.) and once again mirrored soul I can not stress this mechanic enough as being the number one killer on this fight.

Phase 3

You know this by the female voice that pops up, when this pops up it will spin slowly around the room with a raging beam of OMG don’t stand in it. Basically it hurts avoid it and once again mirrored soul still comes into play. By this point the boss should be nearly dead but don’t kill anyone.

Important Notes:

You need either 1 Tank uncrittable while wearing heavy frost resist (warriors work well as do Droodss.) OR 1 Tank in Full frost resist not worrying too much about the uncrittable thing and Another in Full Threat Gear.

This is very healing intensive and if you screw up you will likely die and you will not blame the healers.

When you hear him ROAR its time for frozen blows. This adds a metric crap ton of FROST damage to his melee attacks (thus the Frost resist wearing tank) and also pulses 4K frost damage to the entire raid every 2 seconds for its duration.

Turn on Projected Textures so you can see the blue runes on the ground.

Don’t EVER stand in the blue rune circles, stuff falls on them hurts you for a fair bit and sends you flying.

When he Casts Flash Freeze get NEAR but not on a LARGE blue rune circle, when the snow falls onto it run up to the top. DO NOT JUMP!

Casters in between casts MOVE, he stacks biting cold (like Heroic Nexus boss but much much worse) if you get three stacks you’re a corpsicle!

The Fight.

Basically I will call this a two phase phase 1 is normal attacks and the like. Phase 2 is During Frozen blows which will happen about 10 times.

Phase 1: Tanking Spanking and Snow piling???

Straight Up you will see a bunch of NPC’s Frozen in Ice Free them all with the mage usually on the right as your priority, the Boomkin further to the left as your second priority.

During this phase he will run around whacking the tank and putting rune circles on the ground that you need to stay out of. He will also freeze people in place this needs to be dispelled ASAP or biting cold will kill them.

At various Points he will cast Flash Freeze, when he does more rune Circles will appear these ones however are huge, run over to them (not on to them) and wait for snow to drop onto them at which point you will have to run on top in order to not get frozen. Remember do not jump RUN ONTO THEM.

Once the cast finishes you will need to kill the Iceblocks for people who were slow arses, once you have done that you need to proceed to DPS the boss as usual baring in Mind that while this is going on he can go into phase 2 multiple times.

Phase 2: Frozen Blows

This is the phase where your healers get tested this is the phase where your DPS can cause a wipe near instantly… The part about not standing in it? That goes frickin quadruple here the healers will be stressed as it is don’t be a scrub GTFO of bad stuff. At this point depending on whether or not you have 2 tanks you would have the one with a ton of Frost resist gear pick him up as roughly 3/4 of the damage he does to the tank here is Frost and its painful.

Also DPS DO NOT GET HIT BY THE ICEFALLS the healers are stressed as it stands be mindful and learn to play I can not stress this enough OK! People who get hit by that in this phase are almost certain to die or cause someone who should not die to bite it. Hell healers watch your feet as well also if you class can self-heal on this section and your not after Hard Mode. Then Guess what BIND THAT SHIT TO A KEY MOFO! (Pally tanks excluded please)

Also he retains all features of phase one hes just meaner.

The Jist:

Basically this is a weird DPS race vs Survival Race, your healers will fall behind each and every Frozen Blows so you need to pay attention do your DPS and not be a scrub at the same time.

Specific Notes.

If you see what looks like a spot light save it for those with large casts, they stand in it and it halves their cast time basically. Now for healers this CAN be used to make healing through Frozen Blows easier but bear in mind it will also eat your mana with a fury few would understand and so should be used with caution though if your group is not getting hit by ice falls shouldn’t really need it….

The camp fires assign a mage or boomkin (someone that casts fast to stand next to this) and your healers as it has two affects. Effect one prevents you needing to move as it keeps the biting cold debuff from hitting you while near it, effect two is when you cast a spell on Hodir from near it you stack a debuff on him increasing spell Damage taken.

The shaman Casts a Storm Cloud on someone, generally speaking if it’s a caster they should all gather around as it increases their crit damage by some crazy amount. If its cast on melee well all the melee should basically get it because yeah they just should.

The healer NPC is a bit like that scrub priest who hardly ever heals, but likely unlike most scrub priests they know where the hell their dispel button is. This helps with Hodir chaining people to the ground other than that it’s the least important NPC.

Also Tanks will be having threat issues as you get massive DPS boosts so watch your god damn agro or one hell of a verbal bitch slap.

Important Notes

The hit box for both arms and his body are actually at his belt. So melee attacking the arms get the Belt you can tab target the right arm easy enough.

Keep the damn back row clear so the casters and healers can actually avoid the eye beams without killing anyone else

If you are all attacking the right arm (your left, his right) he will not be squeezing anyone long enough for having two competent healers to be an issue.

Have one tank or durable DPS (read DK or Feral druid) be ready to pick up the adds that spawn when you destroy an arm. (Few things make your healers more annoyed than having rock elementals beating on them for a prolonged period of time)

Melee listen to me, do not fall off the edge, this includes tanks… also warriors do not charge or at best you jump the gap at worst you fall to your horrible painful death. (The most likely is the latter unless you charged with like a 6k latency spike because that’s one hell of a jump.)

Basic Positioning and Roles

First up if you have never seen or done this before or for that matter have, even a single person who hasn’t. I can not recommend enough that you send them in first as the reactions that a gigantic freaking stone boss popping up like 5 meters (or yards whatever) from your face.

The fight is pretty simple Melee and tanks kiss his belt while stabbing/slashing/hacking/smashing his right arm. The casters should be positioned lined up across the room in roughly the centre to make it easier to avoid the eye beams he will aim at a person (these things nail anyone nearby) he can not aim this at melee on his waste unless there are no casters at all, which assuming your healers don’t die should never be an issue. When the beam comes the person its targeting will turn around run to the clear space in the back and kite the beams.

Pay attention if it focused on you or not because the last thing you need is both your healers running around like crazy causing the tank to get WTF PWND

Also the tank assigned to picking up the adds move off and stay the hell away from everyone else, they AoE damage every few seconds which though not horrible is just more mess for the healers. Also warlocks there is a timer on deadly boss mods for when Kolo will use his shockwave for the love of crap if you freaking lifetap 2-3 Seconds before that is up you deserve to DIE! They give you these damn timers for a reason its not purely so that a healer can make sure your healed, Really can’t heal one shot attacks (a discipline can turn it into a non one shot so if you have one it may be worth kissing some ass)

Finer Points for the Casters and Off tank.

If you are not licking the boss’s belt you are prone to being targeted by his eye beams, they do immense damage and can not be reasonably healed through. Even if the off tank has adds they need to run away from the beams but never near the melee.

Rule of thumb tank adds in the front left corner (near the edge) when eyebeams hunt you down run to the back left corner then across the back row to the right if it is still chasing.

Casters have two options they can step forward one tile and a bit then run to the left or right which ever gives you the most space really. The other option is simply to turn and run down the stairs this requires you to have cleared trash or be good at what your doing.

Specifics

The priority target at all times while it is up should be his right arm, this is the arm can pick people and squeeze them to death if enough damage is not done to it, if you can’t do enough DPS to break people free of the arm before he squeezes till they pop then you will not kill this boss… assuming four DPS you would also probably struggle on some heroics seriously.

When you destroy an arm (either can be destroyed but you should avoid killing the left arm) it spawns a pack of adds the of tank has to pick these up a ranged AoE class you should help nail these although these days holding the offtank up until they kill them isn’t that bad either!

Once you blow up the right arm you switch to the body NOT THE LEFT ARM! The body is labeled as Kologarn check your target before you nuke stuff MMKAY!

Conclusion

Congratulations if you followed the above steps you have likely killed Kolo (hopefully in one shot) his body will now form a bridge to the other side of the Chasm one would assume he likely created, which is a little ironic in truth but eh. Be warned his body CAN fall incorrectly so before running across watch your step.

Iron Council / Assembly of Iron

Things to Remember:

Three part boss fight the kill order determines the difficulty. Easy mode is Steelbreaker, Rune Master Molgiem and Storm Caller Brundir

Easy Mode is Kill Steelbreaker then Molgeim then Brundir

Steelbreaker uses Fusion Punch this hits like a Mac Truck that’s got a spiked ram on the front. You will eat this tank! It leaves magic debuff that’s got to be cleansed.

Cleansing is even prioritized over healing so when you see the cast pally healer or Priest stop what you doing and spam magic dispels until you get the ok.

Molgeim will put runes of power on the ground, these go both way move the boss out of them and put the DPS in them.

If Steelbreaker is still in a Rune when he casts fusion punch, your tank is dead KTHNXBAI

The tank up the back dealing with Molgeim and Brundir needs to GTFO when Brundir casts overload.

When Steelbreaker dies Brundir gains a new ability lightning whirl… Be less scrubbish and interrupt this, it does AoE damage to the entire raid and makes adorable puppy dogs maul orphans when it’s not interrupted.

Molgeim now casts death runs, use the standard philosophy of if it’s on the floor and you are not sure GTFO.

When Molgeim dies Brundir gains lightning tendrils he gets airborne and chases people zapping everyone in his path. It’s painful so when he targets you run WAY from him and the rest of the raid.

Phase One: Steel Breaking?

For this phase tank 2 (preferably a warrior) will be at the back holding onto Molgeim and Brundir.

Meanwhile up the front the MT will be getting hit like a truck and occasion screaming bloody murder about Fusion Punches, Molgeim will be spawning Blue rune circles on the ground beneath Steelbreakers feet, the tank needs to get him out of this RIGHT AWAY two reasons really.
It hurts to take 50% extra damage
If a fusion punch goes off while hes in it, the MT will die and will be very very sore.

Ideally you want to park your DPS in said rune once he is out so you really only want to move him out of it a little bit, just far enough that he loses the damage buff. If your tanks awesome you can get all your DPS in the rune if they are decent you’ll at least get your ranged.

This extra damage helps as you’ll need to beat what is actually a reasonably tight enrage timer if your DPS isn’t all above 3-4K without it.

Basically nuke him real good until its time to switch to phase two (Molgeim)

It’s probably a good idea to nuke him with heroism if you have it as the runes will best your DPS rather well J

Phase Two: Decipher This?

This phase you have the MT taunt Molgeim from the offtank because plainly the offtank has more important things to worry about, such as interrupting the Lightning whirl.

In this phase the MT will be basically kiting Molgeim around and just generally doing the usual don’t lose agro thing. Nothing out of the usual there.
In this phase the hard job is for the tank at the back the one handling the dwarf because we all know the little bastards are aggressive when sober, or drunk or … actually they are just aggressive.
Basically the tank at the back not only has to dodge the lovely overload (which really shouldn’t be hard.) but they also have to interrupt lightning whirl which is basically a big whirlwind looking ability that instead of slicing ones face off simply flings lightning around the damn room. For this reason a resto shaman is helpful as it can usually act as backup if the tank screws up and misses an interrupt. This assume the shaman isn’t a healbot that sees nothing but health and mana (they shouldn’t be or they’ll die from the death runes anyway)
Up the front Molgeim will occasionally shield himself it should be purged or spell stolen immediately, if it absorbs 20K damage on 10 man or 50K on 25 he will gain a 50% damage buff. So mages steal the crap if you can, at very least you will save extra effort from the healers. J

Phase Three: Ride the Lightning (or he will)

Ok this phase Brundir gain another ability called Lightning Tendrils.
Essentially he rises up on pillars or legs of lightning and chases a random person around (and usually switches 1-2 times while he’s up there) Basically however is targeted needs to GTFO and only AWAY from the raid the reason being is he does 3K damage per second to anyone within 10 yards of him. Thus why you are running any time a healer has to drop more than 2K Healing per second on someone they are likely going to be eating some serious mana so you’ll die when they go OOM so move.

When he comes down from the ability he functions just like phase 1 and 2 with the overload and lightning whirl. Overloads GTFO and whirl interrupt. Beat the piss out of him until the mob falls over!

GG collect loot

(Animation as to where everything is Soon ™

Ignis

(Koralon from VoA’s much more annoying little brother)

Important Parts

Adds: Do not touch them unless you are the assigned add smasher guy/girl.

The offtank Holds adds in the fire. Yes you have an excuse to stand in the fire this time…

The Main Tank will kite Ignis in a square near the corners of each pool of water.

The casters will stop casting on flame jets or you will be spell locked for 6 seconds. If you’re a healer and your on tank duty this feels like an eternity.

Heal people in his burning crotch pot, Healers cover each other you can end up in there.

The adds once they go orange need to go for a swim and shortly there after get blown up. Assign a high burst RANGED dps to blow them up.

Blow Heroism/Bloodlust and cool-downs if you have it fairly early so you can do a larger chunk of damage before it gets hectic and you lose dps to add duty.

Misdirect Helps a lot for getting ignis to the tank as it’s a pretty long kite back to where he needs to be tanked from where he is standing.

The fight.

Ignis is a strange fight with a lot to get used to… ok well not really.

He has two real gimmicks, the first of which is his crotch pot and the second of which is adds, specifically adds that have to be dealt with in a specific manner. In that vein ill split the fight in to two roles even though technically they are happening at the same time (I will be doing the same for Thorim)

Phase 1 or Role one: Ignis is a little bitch

This fight is mostly controlled by the main tank and their capacity to kite. Ignis will need to be kited in a Shape resembling at least vaguely a square from corner to corner on each pool. You do this so there are multiple scorched patches for those on role two to work with. Basically you kite him to a corner make sure he’s facing in a good area (Aka not at the pool preferably away from the pool as well as the raid.) wait for him to cast scorch then move to the next area.
Healers depending on how role two is doing you may be having to do some pretty heavy healing (Read Patchwerk with raid damage and a crotch pot of molten metal) so pray they do their job well. He will periodically pick some up and sit them disturbingly close to his crotch… if that wasn’t bad enough people this close to his crotch will receive a pretty decent amount of damage. This can be anyone so the whole “heal assignments” thing kind of looks like this.
Healer X Focus on the MT and cover Healer Y
Healer Y focus on the OT and cover healer X
Healer Z if your actually here and needed cover the other two and top people up after flame jets.
Continue blowing him up kiting him around and healing the OMG damage on the tanks, with one exception one of your dps (Ranged only) should be ready to turn around and locate role two and blow up a target immediately.

Phase 2 or Role two: Adds why did it have to be adds!

Role two consists of adds , the issue is you can not reasonably burn these adds down but you can use the lovely world of primary school science to shatter them.
These adds need to picked up and taken to a scorched area of the ground. They then need to be held there until such time as they turn molten. You will know when they are molten because they will be orange, pulsing an aoe and hitting you like you insulted their mothers.
Here’s the fun part! You now need to take the glowy orange adds for a swim to make them brittle (yay science really hot to really cold = really fragile) as soon as you make them brittle call out for a shatter when you do this your assigned ranged dps should proceed to drop a swift nuke on the enemy turning them to rubble. Rinse repeat until role one hurries the hell up and kills Ignis.

Overview:

There is really not all that much going on there but it is all happening at the same time, if role one is not done well, then role two can not do their job effectively, if role two cant do their job effectively then role one gets turned into a big red Smear.

A few notes being that You should never be casting anything when the flame jets cast finishes ive done it many times thing I can get this heal out only to get school locked from nature for 6 seconds. This results in OMG gotta catch up or OMG tanks dead I fail. If you’ve done Heroic UK you know about Ingvar’s dreadful roar, its exactly the same but with more damage added.

For a guide of the way it kind of looks see the attached image at the bottom of the post.

As always the tankspot strat cover it pretty well but sometimes ciderhelm says things that alot of people don’t get.

Ok Ulduar Strats by the numbers

Im skipping Loot Leviathan because that’s not a real fight haha.

Ok First Guide …

Razorscale

(aka Veranus aka really freaking big protodrake that got Bound in metal and all that bad stuff)

Important Parts:

Melee Don’t Hug the sentinels lest ye lose your limbs, and possibly your torso.

Don’t stand in the fire, I don’t care whether Zelda taught you blue fire is good. This blue fire isn’t OK!!

Stay away from the business end of the drake.

Tanks will need to taunt of each other in phase two make sure you communicate.

If your ranged spread out ten yards, no one has cooties but they can get you killed by chain the chain lightning, which unlike our chain lightning gets stronger each jump.

Ive got a dodgy paint drawn guide to positions in the link down the bottom.

Phase 1: Turret Jumping

Ok During Phase 1 the boss is airborne which means you cant really hurt her (yes it’s a her Brood “Mother” Veranus) however you can bring her down for a time using the harpoon turrets up the back. To do this you have to fend off waves of adds which is fun…. All the while getting fireballs spat at everyone and patches of flame thrown on the ground.

When you have activated two turrets she will be grounded for about 30 seconds, at this point cooldowns should be popped to drop her health as much as possible as quickly as possible. This includes Heroism nail it and get its health as close to 50% as possible you really only have three shots or shell hit the enrage timer.

When you have her at 50% she will be permanently grounded which brings us to.

Rule of thumb priority for adds is Sentinel>Guys with mana bar (smaller ones)>Slightly larger guys who have no mana bar.

Phase 2: Drake whacking

During this phase she will continue to spit fireballs around and generally do the whole RAWR im a dragon thing (including flame breath which hurt so stay out of the front)

She will stack a debuff on the tanks which will weaken their armor and slow their movement, when you get three stacks the offtank needs to taunt and continue kiting her around the circle.

To everyone else she will apply a flame buffet this acts as a soft-enrage after a time the stacks on this will get high enough that the random fireballs will one shot people… however if you grounded her in three goes or less youll be fine assuming people don’t get in front of the dragon…

Continue kiting, swapping and killing until the Dragon falls GG collect loot and lets go fight Either XT-002 or Ignis.

It should be noted during Phase two if your healers were struggling with the fireballs they will be hurting pretty bad from the extra damage but you’ve gotten this far dig deep and find that capacity to keep going.
